The industry of psychiatry has grown tremendously in the past 100 years. When we study the history of psychiatry we see that from the early days of "bedlam", the Royal Bethlehem Hospital, and the asylums to the more recent years of this has been a very lucrative business.

But Farhad, this information has got to be biased.

Over 17 million children in the U.S. are on psychiatric drugs. How about hearing from some of the victims?

Almost all of the ones who were involved in the school shootings from Columbine to the Virginia Tech massacre.

For years the psychiatrists have tried to pass legislation to screen ALL american teenagers for mental illness. Their justification is that the sooner these problems are detected the better the chances for treatment. However, we are not talking about cancer here. We are talking about someone putting an arbitrary label on your child and drugging them based on an opinion. A personal opinion. No scientific tests, no blood samples, no brain scans, no tissue test, nothing. Just an opinion.

It would be nice if they had stopped there, but they didn't.

There is now legislation in process to "screen" all pregnant and new mothers for mental illness and post partum depression, called The Mother's Act.
Sounds harmless enough.
It's the "mothers" act. Who would want to oppose that? It's for mothers, right?

Wrong!

It's just another plot to drug America but this time their goals are much more sinister than that. They are going after the new born children through their mothers. Think about it, what better way to trap the new generation of more spiritually enlightened human beings than by drugging them through their mothers. That's literally killing 2 humans with one pill and making a lot of money doing it.

A study of involuntary psychiatric admissions of minors in Finland found that "involuntary admissions of children (aged < 12) and adolescents (aged 12–17) increased vastly over the study period, both in absolute figures and in proportion to all admissions in the age groups."

I personally know of a single mother whose 10 year old son, one of the sweetest and most intelligent and joyful kids you ever met, was being forced by the school system here in America to put her son on psychiatric medication. Fortunately she was too smart for that and changed her son's school.

Over 17 million children in the U.S. were not that fortunate.

But surely the psychiatrists must have solid scientific backing all their claims, along with tests to prove the existence of these mental illnesses followed by cures, in order to justify drugging so many children and adults with powerful, mind-altering, and addictive drugs...right?

So where is all this leading to?

Well we know that the combination of governments and psychiatry is a very deadly one.

In Germany the psychiatrists started the eugenics program to "cleanse" the population of those deemed "unfit" to be alive. Any one who seemed even remotely strange in behavior or appearance, specially with any kind of mental retardation or physical handicap was shipped off to concentration camps and medical fascilities to be experimented on. The most notorious of these doctors was Dr. Joseph Mengele, famous for his experiments on twins, who are now called Mengele Twins.

Sweden
you would think that people in a well-educated country like Sweden would be immune to the crimes of psychiatry, right?

No way.

And that's exactly what Peter Anstrin set out to do, to expose crimes of psychiatry in his country. After writing a series of exposés for the Stockholm branch of CCHR, Citizen's Commission on Human Rights, a testimony came in reply concerning a program known as "social engineering". A woman in the north of Sweden wished to make a confidential disclosure to him about a clinic in Ryhov where she had been treated. She told Peter to double check the dossiers, because the patients there didn't die of tuberculosis, they had been intentionally starved to death, just as had been done in Nazi hospitals. Upon investigation, Peter foudn that Ryhov precisely matched her description of a state asylum serving the Swedish Mental Hygiene Association, circa 1940. The operating rooms had since been gutted and someone had gone to a lot of trouble to whitewash the records, but the death certificates were still on file. The woman was right: TB mortality rate was nearly 300 times the national average.

When the news hit the media, psychiatrists claimed the Ryhov was just an isolated incident but it was too late because Peter had already opened a second set of dossiers, and this time the trail led to actual film footage.This story also hit the media and aired to upwards of three million viewers. It specifically focused on 4,500 people who had been brutally lobotomized between 1944 and the early 1960s.

But what finally laid bare what Sweden's Mental Health Association had done was the next Anstrin report which ran under the banner: "Welfare State Eugenics Shocks the World" and told of more than 60,000 so-called deviants sterilized in the name of racial purity. New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, and BBC have reiterated the fact that only Hitler's Germany had outsterilized Sweden's psychiatrists.

China
In China we hear of the psychiatric abuses of members of Falun Gong¹.
Falun Gong² or Falun Dafa is a spiritual practice introduced to the public in China by Li Hongzhi （李洪志） in 1992. It has five sets of meditation exercises and seeks to develop practitioners' hearts and character according to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance (真，善，忍）articulated in the main books Falun Gong （法輪功）and Zhuan Falun （轉法輪）. The teachings deal with issues such as "cultivation of virtue and character", "moral standards for different levels", and "salvation of all sentient beings."
Now why would the Chinese government and the Chinese Society of Psychiatrists (CSP) be involved in the "mistreatment, torture, and fraudulent diagnoses in the case of large numbers of political dissidents and Falun Gong practitioners", who were promoting "truthfullness, compassion, and forbearance"?

And while we're at it, why did/does the Chinese government invade Tibet, destroy over 6,000 monastries, and killed and tortured 1,000s of Bhuddist monks?

United States of America
We also know that CIA and psychiarists have done extensive mind-control experiments on Americans unbeknownst to them. This was called operation MKUltra.

President Clinton openly admits and apologizes to the victims of these experiments:

Involuntary consent
In the 1950's and 1960's psychiatrists launched an unsuccessful attempt to pass laws in the U.S. to involuntarily committ patients to psychiatric wards and hospitals where they could do whatever they want with their victims, mainly political dissenters.

This bill was called the Alaska Mental Health Bill, a bill proposed in the mid-1960s to the United States legislature which advised that a Siberian-type camp be created for mental health patients in a remote part of Alaska, a region much like Siberia. The bill proposed a "simplified commitment procedure," allowing any police officer, friend, medical doctor or psychiatrist to start commitment proceedings on a person. It was worded in such a way that any man, woman or child could be seized off the street and transferred without trial to this camp. Churches of Scientology and other civil rights groups joined forces to fight this proposal. A campaign was launched to inform the public of what was happening. This and other actions inspired political opposition and succeeded in stopping the commitment section of the bill, leaving merely an act to authorize mental health funding in Alaska.

But they did not stop there. We can see that they have been successful in other parts of the world such as in Nova Scotia province of Canada where the "Honourable" Angus MacIsaac, Minister of Health, passed the Involuntary Psychiatric Treatment Act (Bill No. 203).

So what are the chances that someone will actually end up with a label of being "mentally ill"?

Actually the chances are pretty high. If you look in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) you'll see that they have covered basically every condition imaginable. In other words you could take any of the 7 billion people on the planet and the psychiatrists will have at least one if not multiple "diseases" they could label that person with. And what does this mean?

Each "disease" comes with a handy little billing code that they could make money on by billing the insurance company, but more importantly each one of the these "diseases" is associated with a handy little pill that you could conveniently and disreetly take in the comfort of your own home...except that there is a trick.
The pill is not a cure, but a trap into much bigger problems.

And the only ones that gain from this transaction are the drug companies and psychiatrists...at YOUR expense.

Right's right, many psychiatrists have direct financial ties to the drug industry and get paid tens, and more often hundreds of thousands of dollars to lecture, promote, and prescribe these medications.

Can you say "conflict of interest"?

So whose side are they (the psychiatrists) on? Definitely not ours.

The Mental Health Parity Act (MHPA), signed into law on September 26, 1996, "requires that annual or lifetime dollar limits on mental health benefits be no lower than any such dollar limits for medical and surgical benefits offered by a group health plan or health insurance issuer offering coverage in connection with a group health plan."

So where is all this leading to?

3. And what is the role of psychiatry in all this?
