Here is the number 1 New Year's Resolution in America to the tune of 50,000,000 people a year, yet there are so few, less than 5%, who are successsful in keeping it off for good.

So why do you think that is?

It can't be due to the lack of exercise equipment. Almost every week we see a new infomercial for a new exercise gadget being promoted by lean models with six-pack abs. YOU too can have the body of your dreams in only 8 minutes a day. Or is it 6 minutes a day? Ever notice how the promised exercise times keep getting shorter and shorter? From 30 minutes a day to 20, 15, 10, 8, 6, and now there is even a $14,615 machine that promises a full-body work out in exactly 4 minutes a day.

It is very hard these days not to notice all the advertising for super pills and supplements whenever you pick up any fitness magazine.

With all of our technological breakthroughs, supplements, exercise gadgets, and advances in medicine and biology and chemistry, less than 5%?

We could do better than that with a placebo.

Almost all of the techniques these days focus on the body, with little attention given to the mind.

A mental technique that is becoming increasingly popular these days is hypnosis specially for weightloss. I would personally caution you against hypnosis to treat any condition and here is the reason: if there is a command in your mind that is telling your body to gain excess weight, then would it not make more sense to find that command and to resolve it than to create a command/counter-command situation in your mind? I believe that creating a force vs. force situation in the mind is not healthy and could create more stress that could show up in your body as some other unwanted condition.

If you are going to go the mental route, then I would recommend Dianetics/Scientology. Another method that I would recommend is EFT which is a different way of resolving the situation and that is through the body's emotions and energy systems, the meridians.

Now why is that important and what does energy flow have to do with weight loss? First you must understand that being overweight is a symptom, a result, an effect, but it is not a cause. Most of you who have found your way to this page are familiar with the "yo-yo dieting" effect. You go on a diet, starve yourself, or go on that crazy Atkins diet, start exercising and huffin and puffin and drop a few pounds and then after a few weeks/months you give up on the diet and weight returns and then some. Why?

The answer is in the mind. Your current weight is a result of all the beliefs you hold about yourself, your self image, your confidence, food, and your general mental conditioning by your family, friends, teachers, tv, advertising, etc.. When you look into and examine these feelings and beliefs and at the same time tap on the acupressure points, you'll be able to release these negative thoughts and emotions that cause your body to over eat and/or retain an excess amount of fat, and then replace those beliefs with positive ones. This will transform your journey from an uphill battle into a more effortless and enjoyable endeavor.
